MIGRANT CHILDREN PROJECT
Focus Groups
Sometimes we talked to groups of young people about their experiences of migrating to, and living in, Ireland .
We call these groups ‘focus groups'.
Focus groups are like group discussions. We asked groups of boys and girls in places like schools and youth clubs to talk about moving to Ireland and living in Ireland .
Sometimes we asked the boys and girls to talk about the photographs they took in the research project. Other times we asked the boys and girls to write down their ideas on one big piece of paper and share them with each other. We used special recorders to record the things that the boys and girls said (we told the boys and girls about the recorders before we used them)
Mostly the young people liked sharing their ideas and talking to each other. Sometimes they thought that it was good to find out that other people had the same kinds of experiences that they did. Sometimes we talked to the young people on their own in interviews.
