MIGRANT CHILDREN PROJECT

Interviews

Lots of researchers use interviews as a way of finding out about peoples' lives. We call these ‘in-depth' interviews because they find out about what people think ‘in-depth' about different issues.

Some of our research used in-depth interviews with young people and young adults as well as with parents and some other adults.

Sometimes we talked to young people on their own, sometimes with their parents or brothers and sisters. Sometimes we did one interview with young people sometimes we talked to young people more than once. Sometimes we interviewed young people and talked to them about the photos they took as part of a photography project.

It all depended on what was made the young people feel comfortable, this also meant we thought about the place the interview happened. Sometimes these happened in cafes, sports centres or in people's homes.
