Pilot Project

Sometimes it is a good idea to ‘try out' some activities with children before you use them as part of you research. We did this with children in 3 different primary schools in Cork city in November/December 2006.

We wanted to see what kinds of drawings and photographs the children would make and also to see if the children would enjoy taking part in these activities.

We talked to the principals and teachers in three schools and then went into six classrooms (one first or second class and one fifth or sixth class in each school) and asked the children if they wanted to be involved.

In each school we wanted to carry out a drawing exercise and group discussion activity with first or second class groups (aged 6-8) and a photography exercise with fifth or sixth class groups (aged 10-12).
